Certification & Licensing

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 certification is required for anyone to service air conditioning or refrigeration. Universal certification permits working with any type of refrigeration equipment or coolant. Probility has a selection of EPA 608 study guides.

State Licensing requirements vary. Some states have no requirements. Others require exams and field experience to become a licensed HVAC contractor. You can always start working at an apprenticeship without prior education or testing. Check your State licensing agency for details.
